1.理解英文和使用英文是有差距的,课堂上听懂,读懂,并不意味着学生能使用,这中间需要一定的操练。只有操练后才能转化成可输出的语言知识和技能,但实际情况是学习者往往没有操练时间。背诵应该是最主要和有效的操练方式。

2.背诵可以使学生发现自己在阅读中忽略的很多问题,如词语搭配、时态转变等。学生往往在背诵出现问题的地方发现自己的学习问题。

3.在没有语言环境的情况下,背诵是最简单易行的使用语言的方式,学生往往能够在以后真实的对话和写作中使用背过的句子,有时是在无意识下使用的。

4.背诵的更大价值不是在将来把自己背过的东西用出来,而是通过背诵获得了抽象的语法能力,使学生的语法体系成熟,增强使用英语的感觉。

外语学习是一个长期的过程,学生必须要做艰苦的努力。尤其是在背诵的开始阶段,每一篇课文的背诵都需要大量时间,因此教师必须要培养学生不怕艰苦,克服困难的品格。成功的外语学习能够使学生养成良好的意志品格,使他们不仅在语言技能方面,而且在自我实现方面有所进步。

此外,让学生乐于进行背诵练习。如把有情节的课文进行表演,举行背诵比赛,进行课文口译练习等。总之,不断调动学生的激情,让背诵成为一种乐趣而不是负担。当学生能够从背诵活动中获得成就感,必然获得更高的热情,从而激发学生的背诵气氛。
